Disaster Readiness Training for Communities

Travel along the Gulf Coast and we are still reminded of the force that Mother Nature carries. Scars remain from Ivan, Charley, Dennis, Katrina, Wilma, Jean and Francis…some of the most devastating storms to hit the U.S.

The Volunteer USA Foundation recognizes that Ready communities and Ready families stand the greatest chance of avoiding the seen and unseen damages that occur from natural disasters. We can all be better prepared when severe weather approaches. By educating ourselves and putting a plan into action we can help protect our loved ones and minimize damage to our homes and other property.

Ready or Not ©

Through Volunteer USA, disaster preparedness experts offer a train-the-trainer workshop to community and civic organizations. The Ready or Not © program introduces the “Ready Family” and the “Ornots” as a way to improve a family’s ability to survive and recover from a disaster.

The workshop provides community trainers the information and materials they need to then teach individuals and families about Family Plans, Home Mitigation and Disaster Budgeting, as well as steps to take during the recovery and rebuilding process. Volunteer USA can also provide an expert to train your local group.

For more information on how to bring a Ready or Not© train-the-trainer program to your area, please contact Brandi Brown at brandi.brown@volunteerusafund.org, or call 850.562.5300.

This program is made possible thanks to the generosity of our underwriter BP.
