Volunteer USA Foundation was founded in August 2007. We advocate for mentoring and literacy programs as the heart of how we improve families’ lives.

We believe that by empowering others to lead and take action that we will grow our movement. At the heart of our movement is the belief that every volunteer in our program provide at least one hour a week helping a child, or an adult.

The Volunteer USA Foundation’s inaugural year has been filled with activity as we work to improve lives through initiatives that promote lifelong learning and community service. The Volunteer USA movement is busy expanding into the Southeast with dozens of programs such as Love. Read. Learn! and Teen Trendsetters Reading Mentors. Our efforts specifically focus on programs that:
  • Offer literacy training to parents and their children,
  • Celebrate the joys of reading,
  • Promote mentoring and volunteer opportunities, and
  • Provide disaster recovery training to help communities rebuild in the face of adversity
With the generous support of our partners and passionate volunteers, Volunteer USA is working to tear down today’s barriers and rebuild lives full of hope and personal achievements. Our programs work to create a better quality of life for individuals and families through lifelong learning. We recognize that the spirit of volunteerism is at the very heart of every community. We applaud and nurture the commitment of people and organizations willing to bring positive change through selfless actions.

We’re new as a national foundation, but our staff and our board have long experience in developing programs. We’re so passionate about what we do that we could not limit it to a single state. We hope you’ll watch us grow.
